A downloadable ashcan game

SPEEDMECH is a mecha tactical combat game where all you roll is initiative.

It's just an ashcan at the moment, think of it as a draft or Early Access game. The game basically is presented as a spreadsheet because this is how I'm playtesting it right now - via Google Sheets online.

The basic premise is that you're all mech pilots in a mercenary squad and you go around doing missions for different factions and you upgrade your mechs by salvaging parts from enemy mechs.

The combat system has you plan all your actions out in advance, but you never know exactly when during the round your mech will act. You then roll initiative for each of your planned actions, and all the planned actions will execute in initiative order and you have some leeway to choose your targets or use some last-minute quick actions.

Even a skilled pilot does not have 100% control over their mech as there are delays and friction between what a pilot wants to happen and how a mech can execute on that. The combat system reflects that, and also highlights the importance of communication and adaptability on the battlefield.

Right now, the core combat system of the game is mostly complete, as well as some of the ideas around the campaign mode and long-term resource management. However, there's still a lot to do around the campaign and RPG elements of the game.
